It is kind of late here in Flushing. They were showing a "Clean House" marathon on the Style Network. I love those kind of shows. Some of the people on them are just crazy. I got my first taste of driving in the snow in ages... of course it was just around the corner to pick up my sister, but still....
Speaking of my sister, Julia wrote an essay on her favorite relative for school. Guess who it was? Me!! It was really cute. I got a little teary eyed.
Hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving. If someone offers you a mint when you are full just say no. You will thank me for it.
Can I say how happy I am that this is a short week? I am taking a half day tomrorrow so I can get up to Flint before the snow starts. It will nice to see the family for more than a day. We are spending Thanksgiving up in Bay City with my step mom's family. My grandma is 87 (I think... it is either 86 or 87) and doesn't make the trip down to see us very well. I am going to spend tonight baking.
~I just looked on the No More AOL CDs webstire and I am #67 on their list of top contributors... I sent in 450. I have about 300 more to send in. The #1 person sent in over 41,000. YIKES!!!
~My craft show was okay for a Friday evening. I made about $60.... $50 after table fee. It was made better by the fact that my neighbor bought about $50 worth of earrings on Sunday. I have the opportunity to do another show on the 11th. And on the 5th I am having an open house. A friend offered the use of her house for the occassion, so people wouldn't have to trek to Jackson.
~Work has been pretty busy. I have a month, less with holidays, to get as much done before we lose our old system. We have been running both for the last 7 months. It has been nice.
~My mom has her ticket to come up in January to babysit me after my surgery. I have to get my house in order for her visit.
I get to leave in about 30 minutes! Doing a mini craft show tonight. It is only from 5:30-8 which is a nice short period of time. It is at a school here in Ann Arbor. The table fee goes to the 5th grade class to help fund a camp trip for those who can't afford the fee. I hope I can make some cash money. Tis the season to be broke. Other than that I think my weekend is going to be pretty calm. The calm before the storm.
*bangs head on desk* I don't get it.... I just don't get it.

District scraps alleged 'cross-dressing' day
(AP) -- A homecoming tradition in which boys dress like girls and vice versa in a tiny Texas school district won't be held Wednesday after a parent complained about what she regarded as the event's homosexual overtones.
As a substitute for "TWIRP Day," the schools ranging from elementary to senior high decided to hold "Camo Day" -- with black boots and Army camouflage to be worn by everyone who wants to participate.
TWIRP, which stands for "The Woman Is Requested to Pay," was hosted by Spurger schools for years during Homecoming Week -- to give boys and girls a chance to reverse social roles and let older girls invite boys on dates, open doors and pay for sodas.
Plano-based Liberty Legal Institute issued a news release Tuesday reporting that it "came to the aid of a concerned parent" over an "official cross-dressing day" in the school district 150 miles northeast of Houston.
"It is outrageous that a school in a small town in east Texas would encourage their 4-year-olds to be cross-dressers," Liberty Legal Institute attorney Hiram Sasser said in the release
Tanner T. Hunt Jr., the school district's attorney, called Sasser's statement "inflammatory and misleading." He said the district never planned or conducted a "cross-dressing day."
"They are a tiny little East Texas school district," Hunt said. "It never occurred to them that anyone could find anything morally reprehensible about TWIRP Day. I mean, they've been having it for years, probably for generations, and it's the first time anybody has complained."
Delana Davies, 33, said she complained after reading a school notice about "TWIRP Day." Davies, whose 9-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter attend Spurger Elementary, said she viewed the day not as a silly Homecoming Week activity, but rather something related to homosexuality.
"It's like experimenting with drugs," Davies said. "You just keep playing with it and it becomes customary. ... If it's OK to dress like a girl today, then why is it not OK in the future?"
[image]chicalookate_88618 670.gif[/image] I started buying crossword puzzle books recently. I am really hooked. I got a New York Times puzzle book... not the Sunday ones, which I got for my brother and mother for christmas... but "The New York Times Easy Crossword Puzzle Omnibus Vol. 1: 200 Solvable Puzzles from the Pages of The New York Times" .... I really don't know how "solvable" they really are, but I manage to get half of the puzzle done, which is better than I could do with the Sunday ones.
[image]chicalookate_94889 2704.gif[/image] Also, I think I am going to buy the new Super Scrabble for when my mom comes to visit in January for my surgery. It has 200 tiles and quadruple point squares... and 441 spaces. We are talking hours of fun! :D Of course my mom is going to kick my ass, but I still enjoy it.
[image]chicalookate_20748 6327.jpg[/image] I am off in a little bit to give blood. It will be the first time in over a year.. I had to wait because of my tattoo. It will probably not be able to give again for another year because of the surgery.
~Made a Sweet Potato Pecan Pie last night. I was going to make the one alicarose put up on her blog, but I couldn't find it ... one of the disadvantages of not being online at home. The SPPP was really good... I am probably going to make it for Thanksgiving dinner.
I had a voice mail Friday when I left work saying that I was approved for the breast reduction. I will have to call Monday and set up an appointment!! I can't believe it only took them 3 days to say yes.
Lynne came down to see me in Jackson. Dinner and a movie. We saw the Incredibles. I had a lot of fun. Great movie... the animation was amazing.
Jones sold out of the Holiday dinner flavors, but you can get them on eBay... some of them were going for $60-80 a pack. Don't want to get them that badly.
I told you I was going to be Activist Kate and here is the first step. I just got several emails from some of the environmental groups that send me action alerts. Here is the story...
National Forests Unprotected Against Logging On July 12, 2004, the Bush Administration proposed weakening the Roadless Area Conservation Rule that protects wilderness areas in our national forests from logging, drilling, road building and more. The Roadless Rule covers 58.5 million acres of roadless forests in 39 states.
Though the Forest Service has portrayed the rule change as a simple "modification" of the Roadless Rule, not a single roadless acre of the national forests protected under the Roadless Rule would be safe from the timber industry under the new proposal.
Building roads in forests only encourages more and more logging. Logging not only hurts the health of our forests, but also leads to soil erosion, damaging rivers, streams and fish habitat. One of the most effective ways of protecting our forests from logging is to protect them from roads, as the Roadless Area Conservation Rule does.
Bush Administration's Proposal: The proposal opens roadless areas to road building and logging by repealing the protections in favor of a new drawn out and bureaucratic procedure. Governors would have to petition the Forest Service to not construct roads or otherwise develop wild roadless forest areas. The Forest Service could simply reject this petition out-of-hand. Or, if the petition were agreed to, the Secretary of Agriculture would establish a formal rulemaking process on a state-by-state basis to consider permanent protection of the roadless areas in question, -- almost surely resulting in a consuming and bureaucratic delays meant to slow or even halt new roadless protections. The proposal would also allow state governors to increase logging, mining or other development in these areas. Many state governors, however, have neither the staff nor the expertise to manage forests effectively. They should not be put in charge of these public resources.

This makes me wonder if god has a sick sense of humor.... At least Hasselhoff won't be in it.

A Big-Screen "Baywatch" by Josh Grossberg Nov 10, 2004, 2:00 PM PT
Those Baywatch bombshells could soon be getting jiggly with it on the big screen.
DreamWorks confirmed Wednesday that it has sealed a seven-figure deal for feature film rights to the clothes-eschewing staple of the 1990s, at one time the most popular TV show in the world.
While the brain trust behind the show--creators Michael Berk, Doug Schwartz and Greg Bonann--are on board as producers, it remains to be seen who will be filling out the speedos.
David Hasselhoff, whose furry-chested Mitch Buchanan led the crack team of barely clothed Malibu-based lifesavers, is not attached to the project. There's no word either on the status of his bevy of bathing-suited beauties, including Pamela Anderson, Carmen Electra, Yasmine Bleeth, and Donna D'Errico, Gena Lee Nolin, Alexandra Paul, Nicole Eggert and Traci Bingham.
According to Daily Variety, DreamWorks forked over $1.25 million for the rights and is currently searching for a writer to dive in and craft a script that makes the most of the show's, um, assets.
Here's to hoping they keep in the trademark slo-mo shots of the well oiled lifeguards running around the beach to save another beautiful victim in the surf (imagine the Imax version).
Last year Jones Soda introduced Turkey/Gravy and Mashed Potato sodas to the world. This year they have added Green Bean Casserole Soda, Fruitcake Soda and Cranberry Soda to the mix. You can buy them as a set. The perfect gift for someone on a liquid diet. :D Jones has to be one of the more creative drink companies out there.
Oh my.... Just had a piece of Ghirardelli Peppermint Bark. Yummy!!! The Cinnamon Spiced Almond is pretty good too. I am not so fond of the Eggnog flavor, but maybe it is because it didn't go with the other flavors.
I love the food that comes durning the Christmas and Thanksgiving seasons. I will get to make Chex Mix soon... I make it with lots of butter. My arteries are clogging just thinking about it.
I was just in the bathroom and some girl was in there talking on the phone. She wasn't in a stall, but I am sure the person on the other end of the phone got to hear me flush (and maybe more). Why would you talk on the phone in a public restroom?
Had my consultation with the plastic surgeon yesterday. I think it went really well... I was pretty well prepared (Thanks to Scuba for all the info!) I had the nurse laughing, she had had a breast redection several years ago. The doctor and resident didn't quite know how to take my humor. They seem to think I will have no problem getting approved. I should know in 1-6 weeks if it is a go. They are scheduling into January already, so it will probably be Jan. or Feb. before I can go under the knife. My Dr. said that he is pretty anal about getting everything the same size and all that. So, it is okay that he didn't get my jokes. He said he might be able to get me to a C cup ... he said the size is dependant on the size of the base of the breast. I wouldn't want pancake breasts. :) C would actually be pretty nice. I will take that. I am just hoping my mug shots don't end up on the Web.
OH MY GOD!!!! Gary sent me this video and he was right when he said it would about make me pee my pants. If you enjoy it go to the Pop section... and then click on Gold Pants and enjoy some more.
My underwear has decided that it really wants to be a thong. An itty bitty one at that. I hate it when my undergarments are having issues because it means I am having issues. That it is starting this early it doesn't bode well for the rest of the day.
I have an appointment, finally, this afternoon at the plastic surgeon about getting a breast reduction. I have been on the list since 6 months... they have rescheduled twice. So unless something comes up in the next 4 hours. Then I get to wait another 30 days to find out if my insurance covers it. I am not always a patient person.
Well, wish me luck... both with the underwear and the breasts.
Since I have moved I have made my way on to some odd mailing lists... I am getting catalogs from Playboy... with a clothing line a guy can buy his girl.. but only if she is under a size 12. And preferabbly a DD cup. I am getting so many Lillian Vernon type catalogs where you can get some of the strangest products on earth. They are a lot of fun to look through, but I would never buy anything from them. What are some of the mailing lists you have gotten on?
I am having fun putting card and t-shirts up on Zazzle. I have only put a few up, but hope to put up more soon. Maybe I can make some money... who knows. I am under kmk101773 if you want to check them out. :)
Went to the orthopedic doctor yesterday. On top of the carpal tunnel I have deQuervain's tendinitis. The occupational therapist fitted me for braces that I am supposed to wear when I am sleeping. Let me say they are a big pain in the ass... I think I hit myself in the head several times. It might take a while to get used to them. I also have to rearrange my work space...
Main Entry: 1man·date Pronunciation: 'man-"dAt Function: noun Etymology: Middle French & Latin; Middle French mandat, from Latin mandatum, from neuter of mandatus, past participle of mandare to entrust, enjoin, probably irregular from manus hand + -dere to put -- more at MANUAL, DO 1 : an authoritative command; especially : a formal order from a superior court or official to an inferior one 2 : an authorization to act given to a representative 3 a : an order or commission granted by the League of Nations to a member nation for the establishment of a responsible government over a former German colony or other conquered territory b : a mandated territory
To me a mandate would be more than a 3.5 million win. Had he won by 70-80% I might think it was a mandate. If he thinks that the almost 56 million who didn't vote for him are just going to let him have his way, I think he is going to be dissapointed.( Main Entry: dis·ap·point·ed Function: adjective 1 : defeated in expectation or hope 2 obsolete : not adequately equipped - dis·ap·point·ed·ly adverb)
After not being able to eat most of yesterday for fear of throwing up I am now back on track. I have decided that I am just going to have to be more active and do my best to make the next four years a little better. I will continue to write letters, call senators and try and inform people. In other words I am going to be Activist Kate... a friend asked if there might be an action figure they could get. They have also asked for copies of the letters I am sending so they can do the same. If you want in on this let me know. I have to do something... After work I am heading to the public library on the lookout for books to help me on my quest. If you have any to recommend please feel free to pass them along.

At the poll I was working at last night I meet an 18 year old who registered to vote and whose form was lost. He spent 6 hours trying to find out what happened. He finally voted by provisional ballot knowing that his vote probably wouldn't count. I think they should send you a letter saying they got your registration and you would find out if everything was okay later. And that if you missed something you should be able to fix your registration even if it is past the deadline... I just hope this kid is willing to try again...
Feeling a bit sick to my stomach right now. I am upset that Proposal 2 passed in Michigan which will add a State constitutional amendment that will ban gay marriage. But I guess I can take heart that about 40% voted against it, one of the highest percentages in the nation. I am worried about where this country is heading. Religious zealotry scares me. The effect it will have on the Supreme Court makes me shudder. I am sad that the youth vote didn't turn out the way it was predicted. Either way the election turns out I think we all need to get more involved... write letters, call our representatives and demand that they pay attention to our needs.
