Hi my name is Kate and I have an addiction to crafts. I just finished my second scarf last night and started my third. (I will post pictures once I get the film developed.) It is a good thing I didn't have a lot of money in the bank because I would have gone even crazier at the yarn store. The first 3 scarves are gifts and the 4th will be just for me. :) I am just happy it doesn't hurt my hands the way jewelry making does. I can just put my extended LOTR in a knit away. Only having to stop when I need to switch discs.... well, I will stop more often than that.
On another addiction front they just announced that the 6th Harry Potter book will be released July 16th. I am really excited.
Thanks for all the get well wishes. I am still suffering from the plague, but it is now plague with a little "p" not the big "P". So things are starting to look up. I was off work Tuesday and Wednesday. I slept a lot. And vegged on the couch watch "Harry Potter and the Prisioner of Azkaban" a million times. Oh, and "Shrek 2", some episodes of "Firefly" and Ron White's "They call me Tater Salad".
Tonight I have to clean my kitchen since it is starting to scare me... something might be growing in the sink. Okay, it isn't nearly that bad, it just seems that way to me. That is what you get when you spend several days in a very small house with just your cat to talk to.
On my lunch hour I am going to go buy some needles and yarn from Thea down at Busy Hands. I arranged a knitting lesson for my friend Suzanne with Thea, another friend, on Monday. T brought some extra needles and yarn.... so I was just messing around. I decided I needed to make something myself. Just scarves I think... I am going to leave the fun bags and hats to Gary...
Who sent me some very cool San Fransisco pictures. It is nice to see where he is, now I can see the man ironing with out his shirt on instead of just imagining him. :D
Howdy strangers. I haven't felt much like blogging lately, but decided to make myself put something together. I am not feeling well, so I don't know if I will make it through the day.
This morning I dropped off a shit load of toys to Toys for Tots. I went a little crazy in Target. But everything was so cute and fun. I don't really have any little kids to buy for. I was going to use money I made from a craft show this weekend, but I only made $6, so that ruled that out. But I still wanted to give something.
Yeah, the $6 craft show... which actually would be the negative $75 when you consider table fee, lost wages and gas in to the equation. I have to start my planning early so I can get in better shows.
I was going to write more, but my brain is feeling all fuzzy.
I finally got these photos scanned. They are from a few years ago when I saw the Chihuly exhibit at the Garfield Conservatory in Chicago. It was amazing. Hope you enjoy.
Made these for my open house... very very yummy. I didn't get 60 cookies out of the mix, but I made my cookies a bit bigger. You might want to let them set before taking them off the cookie sheet... the melted carmel makes the cookie a bit unstable. :) Oh and beware of burning yourself if you eat them too soon.... again with the melted carmel.

Having been having lots of "Duh!" moments the last few days. Forgetting things, droping things and the like. Wondering if there is something in the air.
Last night I was baking my pumpking torte and put the egg in the topping bowl instead of the crust bowl. No problem I make more topping stuff. The pan makes it into the oven no problem. I am starting to clean up and the bowl I had set aside went flying to the floor. I got egg, sugar and cake mix all over the stove and floor. It was the last in the string of events that made me decide to just sit myself on the couch for the rest of the evening.
I made cookie dough on Tuesday night and it had to be refridgerated for several hours, so I didn't get to make the cookies until Wed. evening. The dough seemed really dry and crumbly when I put it in the fridge, but thought that it would firm up once cold. Uh, no. I went to cut the first cookie and the whole log fell apart. I tried to form cookies by hand, but they didn't want to be formed. I just through the batch out. That is one recipie that I will not be trying again. I have a few more waiting to be tried out.
Luckily the Chex mix turned out wonderfully. Nice and greasy.
It looks like winter is here. Another snowstorm... though the snow should be melted by noon today and then we get to start it all over tomorrow.
Sorry I have been MIA the last few days. I have actually had a lot of work to do. I mean how dare they. :D I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Mine was pretty hectic, but in a good way. I went to see my folks up in Flushing and then we all went up to Bay City to see my Step-mom's family. I hadn't seen my Grandma in a while. She didn't remember who I was. My aunt has a lot of patience which is good since Grandma is living with her. It is harder on us than on her. I just have to keep remembering that. She is 88 and is in pretty good health otherwise.
I am back to selling books on Amazon... have sold 4 in 3 days. Not to shabby. Now if only the expensive ones would sell. But every little bit helps.
Tonight I start baking munchies for the open house I am having Sunday. I am making Chex Mix, lots of cookies and mabe my torte di zucca. Yummy. So even if no one shows up I will be able to eat away my sorrow. :)
