On my way to lunch... "That means he is reaching out and sharing. I know that most people wouldn't think that someone telling you they have the flu is sharing, but it is. I wish ____ would do that."
I love Non Sequitur. This one reminds me of my dad. Words or names have always caught our attention. Phrases too. Over the holiday weekend we wondered about "Salad days" and one more that is escaping me at the moment. Oh and the use of the phrase "Post haste" which is just fun to add on to a command. I remember my step mom looking at us oddly once when Dad and I laughed over the author of a book I was using for a report. She just didn't think "Ada P. Kahn" was funny. (Say it out loud and see what you think. ) I have done speech assignments on words I like the sound of. Simon Winchester's books on the Oxford English Dictionary are some of my favorites. Dictionaries facinate me. I admit I am a big ol' geek, but I know there are more of us out there. Aren't there? Hello?
Wed. morning I was at the gas station when I was approached by an guy from the Associated Press asking me about my travel plans. So if you google me and AP you will find me. Of course they got my profession wrong... and the distance I was going. Oh, and the quote wasn't quite right, but they did spell my name correctly.
My high school won the state football championship for their division. The first time they, or any Flint school had. Got to see my sister march at Ford Field (home to the sad sad Lions) which was really fun.
Tried the Jone's Soda holiday pack .... we made it through Stuffing, Turkey (omg gross), pumpkin pie (again vile) and cranberry. Brussle sprout remained untouched. We also ate a lot to try and get the turkey taste out of our mouths.
Did not go shopping the day after Thanksgiving, which is the first time in several years we didn't go.
Saw HP again with my dad and sisters. It is tradition for us to go to the movies after Thanksgiving dinner. We went to a little theater in my old hometown and the matinee was $3 . Yep, $3. Evening price was just $5. Couldn't believe it.
I have my tree up and decorated. Now I just need to clean up the mess I made.
Having a jewelry sale and trying to make up a few more pairs of earrings to get rid of some of my bead stock. I am trying to phase out the jewelry since my hands just can't do it in quanity anymore.
Sold 7 more record bowls. Samantha asked me for 20 more . And even mentioned she thought they would make fun gift baskets. So I made one up so she would have it to show people.
Went to the library booksale and picked up some more albums. I got Pat Benetar, ACDC, Linda Rondstat, Saturday Night Fever and Big Chill
Saw Harry Potter last night. Wow! The kids are getting to be very attractive. Overall I was pretty happy with what they had to change.
Made a bunch of jewelry this weekend. And decided to have a big ol' sale instead of an open house. Probably won't do as well, but saves me time and aggrevation.
Been reading a lot. And I mean a lot.
Trying to figure out what gifts to get people.
Trying to figure out how to make some extra money to buy those gifts.
photos from San Francisco. I am almost to the end of my film. I have 1 roll of b/w to have developed soon. I am in the process of putting the last of the color pictures on Flickr. I am so happy with how the majority of them turned out.
Taken with a digital camera (Thanks Mark!) in poor lighting, but I fiddled with the brightness and the contrast and ended up with this. Not a typical flower picture. I feel more like is is a mixed media piece. Something about the color and the jumpiness makes me happy.
It is so beautiful out. I hope it stays this way for part of the weekend. I want to get outside as much as possible.
I have been busy the last few days getting pictures ready to put up on Flickr. (I have over 1000 now. Scary.) Overall I am really happy with the pictures I took. I will pick up the last of my film on Friday.
I have been feeling a bit off the last few days. Not physically, but mentally and emotionally. I am not sure what the issue is. Maybe it is that the all Christmas song station is up and running already. Scary. More likely it is that I am just not motivated to do much. I keep hoping I win the big mega millions lotto. (Hey, a girl can dream.) It should be around $265 million Friday. What would you do with that much money? Even after the they take taxes it is a huge amount. Boggles my mind.
So, to make myself feel better here is a list of things that are making me happy.
The thought of Thanksgiving dinner with my family.
There was a crazy amount of wind yesterday. So, I am glad I got these pictures before the wind took the leaves away. The colors are my favorite part of fall. I just wish it would last a bit longer.
Here are is a picture of the Palace of Fine Arts (I have more to be developed.) The structure, built in 1915, was only built to last a year. It is amazing the detail they put in to an what was to be a short term structure.
This is one of the original angels that was inside the dome. It has since been replaced with a replica.
