Just me whining
08.29.06 (8:25 am)   [edit]

Yesterday was one of those days I should have just stayed home. I woke up at 3:40 and couldn't go back to sleep. Forgot to grab my lunch out of the fridge. And since I am beyond broke I settled for a bagel. We had an upgrade to the computer system we use and it was slooooooooooooooooooooow. And not working right to boot. I got nothing acomplished yesterday, which was sad because I was motivated at the start. It didn't help that the fire alarm went off and we had to stand outside for an hour. I went to the public library, the best part of the day, and got some more books. It was raining when I caught the bus, then I realized that I was on the wrong one... they dock right next to each other and because I was reading I didn't notice until the bus turned the wrong way. So, I got off at the first stop and made my way back to the station and waited 30 minutes for the next bus.

On a brighter note here are the books I finished over the weekend.

6. Blink by Malcolm Gladwell 7. Sellivision by Augusten Burroughs 8. Tell Me Lies* by Jennifer Cruise

More added to the list

  1. Possible Side Effects by Augusten Burroughs
  2. Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie*
  3. Julie & Julia 365 Days, 524 Recipies, 1 tiny  apartment Kitchen by Julie Powell
  4. Urgent Second Class by Nick Bantock (Not the worlds longest book, but it was pretty.)
  5. Stupidest Angel by Christopher Moore

Just dropping in to the library to get some more books. I am spending the weekend reading, making cards, organizing my stuff and maybe I will go see something at the cheap theater.  Nothing too intense for me.

Hope you all hava  good weekend!

Packaging
08.23.06 (8:37 am)   [edit]

Spent most of the evening working on bowls, magnets and cards. Found a solution to the packaging deliema I had about the magnets. I was going to buy clear plastic boxes, but I couldn't find any the size I wanted. So, I am going to keep them in their plastic bags and use recycled album covers to be the backing and put my logo on. Nice to make use of hte 200+ covers I have been holding on to for hopes that I could find a use for them.

Also I decided that I wanted to keep track of what I am reading. Just to see how much I read in the course of a year. Or if I get tired of writing it down a few months. Here are my first 2 contributions...

  1. Possible Side Effects by Augusten Burroughs
  2. Bet Me by Jennifer Crusie*

oh my back
08.21.06 (11:35 am)   [edit]
Everything is out of my old place. I have a car load I need to empty and a small pile at my neighbor's and I will get it next week. I feel pretty good about the status of my apt. I will take some pictures for you all so you can see my lovely home. This weekend I signed the contract for the Art co-op and I have to start making things to sell there. I am going to try and have 200-250 cards (40-50 styles, 5 of each style), I want to have 30-40 packs of magnets (6 to a pack) and about 40 record bowls (I have about 20 already made.) I have to figure what else I can take. Now, I have to go pay a parking ticket. k

move update
08.17.06 (8:32 am)   [edit]
I am a little bruised and a little sore, but most of my move is done. I have the majority of my boxes unpack and art on the walls. There is probably a car load of stuff left at the old place which I will get this weekend. The only down side to my new home is that I don't get very good reception for my cell phone. I took it in to Sprint to see if they would upgrade the towers for me. They gave me a new phone, which I didn't want. But I brought it home and the had 3 dropped calls the first time out. I took it back and it seems like the never updated it to the towers. It still doesn't want to work right. Very frustrating. Not to mention that I have to imput numbers in to my phone again... and that I wrote some of the numbers down wrong. *le sigh* Other than that life has been pretty calm. Getting ready for the co-op to open and trying to get more sales online. But hopefully the holiday season will help with that. k

Why does my cat lick the packing tape?
08.09.06 (11:23 am)   [edit]
I have started the migration. I took over my first load of boxes yesterday. I hung some clothes in the closet, put some dishes away and put up the shower curtain. I have another car load to take over after work. Right now I am moving the "Things-that-don't-stack- well" items. And let me tell you how much I love the giant Ziploc bags! From record bowls to purses to towels they hold a lot. I still have some packing to do, but it isn't too much left. Mostly clothes, bath stuff and the random stuff that is in my hall closet. And I have to figure out when to move Moose and what to do with his litter box. There isn't anyplace I can tuck it away like I have it now. k

UTIs suck
08.07.06 (7:34 am)   [edit]
I am still here, honestly. Was out most of Thursday and Friday feeling kind of ill. Can I just say I don't like antibiotics very much? I don't take them very often, but when I do they just make me kinda queasy. So, I spent the weekend crashed out on the couch rather than packing. I signed my lease on my Friday and now I am going to start taking a few things over at a time. And probably get my dad's van this weekend so I can take some bookcases over, and hey, maybe a chair. Hope everyone is managing to stay cool. k
